Neuron tracts of one elderly individual were traced based on brain imaging data from a diffusion tensor MRI scan. The neuron tracts connect brain regions together into distributed cognitive networks that give rise to memory, language, and other higher-order mental abilities. The tracts are also damaged by a variety of diseases of aging, such as Alzheimer's Disease.
