The Whale's Tail Vase

This image simulates the pate-de-verre style glass sculpture, and illustrates computer graphics techniques to put fine detail on the surfaces of solids. Note the small whale's tails sticking out of the small circles on the surface of the sphere. These techniques, developed at UC Davis, are used by most animation companies today.
