I have a computational neuroscience laboratory focused on developing neuroimaging data processing algorithms for elucidating the biological course of cognitive decline in elderly individuals. My team develops novel methods for automatically delineating regions of interest in brain scans, precisely quantifying atrophy to those regions, and estimating measurement error in the delineations. We then apply the methods to imaging data from large epidemiological studies, and report findings that relate brain characteristics to susceptibility to, and progression of, late-life cognitive disorders.
